Dayton Masonic Foundation

Welcome to the Dayton Masonic Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to historical preservation, educational advancement, and community philanthropy throughout west-central Ohio. Established in 1993, the Foundation serves as the charitable safeguard for one of the region's most magnificent architectural achievements while simultaneously investing in the human capital of our surrounding communities.

Our mission bridges the greatness of Dayton's past with the promise of its future. We ensure that our historic home remains structurally sound while channeling vital resources into our community.

🏛️ Preserving a Living Landmark

A primary pillar of the Foundation is the perpetual maintenance and restoration of the Dayton Masonic Center. Built between 1925 and 1928, this imposing Grecian-style masterpiece sits on an 8.5-acre lot overlooking downtown Dayton. It is proudly listed on the United States Register of Historical Properties.

The monumental structure is a testament to historic craftsmanship. It was built using:

  • 1,700 tons of structural steel and 2 million bricks.

  • 70,000 cubic feet of stone including Bedford stone and hard limestone.

  • 20 train carloads of premium marble sourced from Vermont, Alabama, and Tennessee.

Through donor contributions, the Dayton Masonic Foundation funds massive, ongoing restoration projects. These include million-dollar structural updates like complete roof replacements, masonry tuck-pointing, and detailed aesthetic restorations of the historic 1928 Great Lounge and the Scottish Rite auditorium.

🎓 Investing in Our Community

Beyond bricks and mortar, the Foundation functions as a engine for regional growth and humanitarian relief. We transform donor generosity into measurable local impact through three core programs:

  • Providing space for Masonic Events: We often provide rooms and space for Masonic events open to our Brethren.

  • Charitable Events: We often host events open to the public, several of which are free.

  • Civic and Cultural Incubator: We open our historic facility to other non-profit and tax-exempt groups. This provides them a grand space to host patriotic, youth, and cultural programs that inspire community service.

🤝 Join Our Legacy

The Dayton Masonic Foundation relies on the vision of civic-minded individuals to keep this historic legacy alive. Whether you want to preserve World War I-era craftsmanship or lift up the next generation of local students, your tax-deductible contribution directly helps the Miami Valley thrive.
