Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite
Valley of Dayton

The Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite (AASR), Valley of Dayton, is a prominent fraternal organization and branch of Freemasonry dedicated to the personal and spiritual growth of its members. Serving Master Masons across 14 counties in west-central Ohio, the Valley offers a continuation of the Masonic journey through 29 additional degrees that explore deep moral and philosophical lessons. Operating out of the historic Dayton Masonic Center, the organization is guided by core values such as integrity, justice, and service to humanity. Beyond its fraternal work, the Valley is a pillar of community support, funding initiatives like the Dayton Children's Dyslexia Center and providing scholarships for students throughout the Miami Valley.

Our Story

The Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite (AASR), often called the "University of Freemasonry," offers a profound expansion of the moral lessons introduced in the first three degrees of the Blue Lodge. By joining the Scottish Rite, a Master Mason gains access to 29 additional degrees ( through ) that utilize elaborate theatrical performances, rich symbolism, and historical allegories to explore deep philosophical, ethical, and spiritual truths. It is designed for the Mason who seeks a "further light" and a more comprehensive understanding of his duties to God, his family, and his fellow man. Beyond the intellectual stimulation, the Rite provides a vibrant social network and a powerful platform for regional philanthropy, most notably through its nationwide network of Children’s Dyslexia Centers.

Why Join the Scottish Rite?

  • Expanded Knowledge: Dive deeper into Masonic philosophy and the history of Western thought through immersive degree work.

  • Theatrical Experience: Unlike the intimate rituals of the Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite degrees are often performed on a stage with costumes and lighting, making the lessons vivid and memorable.

  • Core Values: The "Six Core Values" of the Rite—Reverence for God, Integrity, Justice, Toleration, Devotion to Country, and Service to Humanity—provide a practical roadmap for personal growth.

  • Brotherhood & Networking: Connect with a wider circle of Brothers beyond your local lodge, fostering lifelong friendships across a larger geographic "Valley."

  • Impactful Charity: Support specialized tutoring for children with dyslexia, a cause that has changed thousands of lives across North America.
